Virtual guided meditations from Yoga Buzz.
Calling all yoga newbies or those who want a deeper understanding of the basics. In
this series we will break down foundational yoga postures and explore ways to tailor
these postures to suit your body’s needs. The first five sessions will have discussion
and physical practice with week six being a 45 minute vinyasa style yoga practice. No
yoga experience required. All you need is you, your mat and a desire to start a yoga
Week 1: Breath and Body Awareness – Becoming attuned to your body and breath is a
foundational piece of any yoga practice. In this session we will go over tools to bring
mindfulness to these aspects of your practice.
Week 2. Six Movements of the Spine – Week 2 will consist of breaking down and
practicing the 6 basic movements of the spine and how to safely approach them in a
Week 3 : Building a Solid Foundation – This week we will work from the ground up to
build stability and integrity in seated and standing shapes. We will also explore common
yoga props and what they can be used for.
Week 4: Sun Salutations – Sun Salutations are a sequence of yoga postures that you
will find in most vinyasa style yoga classes. In week 4 we will workshop these shapes
and practice linking our breath with our movements.
Week 5 – Internal and External Hip Rotation – Week 5 will focus on becoming confident
in common internally and externally hip rotated shapes. We will work through the
Warrior 1 and 2 and lunging shapes.
Week 6- Putting it all together – Our final session will be a 45 minute slow vinyasa style
practice where we will put all that we’ve learned into practice.
This free series will occur via Zoom Saturdays from July 25 – August 29. Please enroll for a ticket and you will be provided with a Zoom link to the online session.
