Join a Washington University bariatric physician to learn more about surgical treatment options for weight loss. The weight loss surgery program is available at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and could be an option for severely obese patients who meet certain criteria.
During this free information session, you will learn about treatment options including laparoscopic gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, gastric sleeve, duodenal switch and revisions to bariatric surgery. Time will be allotted for questions and insurance coverage will be discussed.
In person classes have been canceled through September to reduce risks to attendees and staff and to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). For your convenience, the information sessions will be held via Zoom.
If you answer Yes to all the following you are a candidate for bariatric surgery. * You are at least 100 pounds overweight or 75 pounds overweight with a specific health related diagnosis. * You are between the ages of 15 and 70 years old. (Note: children ages 15-17 will need to be accompanied by a guardian)
If you do not answer Yes to both questions, please call our bariatric coordinator to discuss further at 314-454-7224.
If you need a revision from a previous weight-loss surgery, please call 314-454-7224 (prior to registering) to speak with a coordinator on the Washington University bariatric team.
All registrants will be notified prior to the scheduled class with a link for their Zoom Meeting.
