Cooking Matters at the Store is a guided grocery store tour to help groups of individuals and families learn how to shop for and purchase healthy and affordable foods.
Who can attend a grocery tour?
Anyone who is interested in discovering ways to buy and eat healthy, affordable food is encouraged to attend, but these upcoming sessions will focus on diabetes-friendly
foods. A minimum of three people and maximum of eight people is required to set up a grocery store tour at a local Schnucks.
What does it cost?
It’s FREE. However, registration is required.
What should I expect from a tour?
In a basic tour, one can expect to learn how to buy fruits and vegetables on a budget, to compare unit prices to find bargains, to read and compare food labels, to identify
whole grains, and to stick to your budget. Tours can be tailored to meet special dietary needs of the group, such as diabetic and heart healthy shopping tours.
Participants will also receive a free workbook full of tasty recipes and simple tips on buying healthy, affordable foods, a free reusable grocery bag, a $10 Schnucks gift
card, and more.
How long will it last?
It will last approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
